Imperial Beach Pier
Imperial Beach, California, United States

Imperial beach is a small beach town nestled just north of the US-Mexico border. There is a wooden pier, restrooms, rinse showers, a lifeguard building, many local restaurants, a small sand playground for young children, and plenty of space where fitness enthusiasts hold workout classes. There are small patches of grass interspersed throughout the area with a couple of picnic benches. There is a small parking lot nearby that is pay by the hour. Unfortunately, IB Pier is chronically affected by ongoing sewage spills south of the border. Currently sewage contaminated waters flow directly into the Tijuana River Estuary, which subsequently spills into the ocean just south of the pier. Check for County issued Beach Advisory/Beach Closure signs that may be posted.
