This sampling location is in the backyard of a residential home. Hook Pond is a 64-acre pond within the Town of East Hampton, and it is connected to East Hampton’s Main Beach through an outfall pipe. Like many other closed ponds on the East End of Long Island, Hook Pond has experienced toxic blue-green algae blooms. Data is collected at the southernmost part of Hook Pond to understand the dynamics of bacteria within the watershed.
