Hither Hills State Park offers visitors scenic picnic areas, sport fishing, a 2.5 mile sandy ocean beach, playing fields, a playground and a 168-site campground on the ocean. Other amenities include restrooms, showers, tent and trailer sites, and food concessions. The unique "walking dunes" of Napeague Harbor are located on the eastern boundary of the park, which also has woodlands filled with Russian olive, oak, shad, and pine trees. Bridle paths and hiking, nature, biking and cross-country ski trails are available. The only pets allowed are dogs and they must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Beach summer hours are 10am to 6pm, and the park is open year round, 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. Camping season is from April 20-November 18. Fishing is permitted year-round but a permit is required. Big and small game hunting is permitted during season.
