At Gunpowder State Park, visitors will find the Hammerman day-use area. With 1500-feet of beach, visitors can enjoy swimming on the Gunpowder River under the supervision of lifeguards (Thursday to Sunday Memorial Day to Labor Day). In addition to swimming, visitors to Hammerman will also enjoy canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. If you forget your lunch, you can purchase food from the Riverside Grille (open seasonally). A bathouse is available and is accessible. The day-use area is open all year with the exception of Christmas. There is a fee to enter the Hammerman Area. Arrive early because the parking lot fills up quickly!
