Karaka Parks small sandy beach is surrounded by lush forest overlooking Green Bay on Manukau Harbour. It is the second largest natural harbour in New Zealand. Though the harbour is considered shallow, tidal flows between the Mauka Heads is very rapid and dangerous. Fishing is the favourite past time for most on the water. Snapper, flounder and mullets are just a few of the fish you can catch.
This beach has red special status as it is under a long-term no swim advisory.
