Grand Isle State Park 2
Grand Isle, Louisiana, United States
Grand Isle State Park was affected by Hurricane Katrina as well as oil contamination from the 2010 oil spill. Parts of the beach and campground have since reopened, but the fishing and crabbing piers have yet to be repaired. The beach offers its visitors warm gulf waters for swimming. In addition to swimming, the park attracts many surf fishers, birders, boaters, and hikers. This is one of four sites at the park that are monitored through the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals Beach Monitoring Program.
