Golden Beach Puri
Puri, Odisha, India
Golden Beach Puri was awarded Blue Flag status in October 2020.*
Golden Beach gets its namesake for its soft golden sand that stretches for 870 metres along the Bay of Bengal. The beach is located nearby a sacred Hindu Temple that attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. Along the beach's promenade, visitors can find many food vendors, sand sculptures, and drinking fountains. The waves at Golden Beach can be choppy which although not ideal for swimming, attracts enthusiastic surfers to the beach's clear waters.
*A Blue Flag beach is one that meets strict water quality and safety criteria. These beaches are certified annually as being clean, accessible, eco-friendly, and having great water quality!
