Gill Bar
Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada
Gill Bar is a gravel bar in the Fraser River, near the community of Chilliwack, BC, which is a popular destination for anglers. Visitors are asked to keep trucks, ATVs and motorized bikes off the gravel bars and out of the shallow waters at all times. Burning of garbage and pallets and dumping of green waste and other refuse are strictly prohibited.
All boaters of all ages are advised to wear PFD, or personal floatation devices. This is NOT a swimming area – the river is fast-moving all year.
Gravel bars such as these, located within the Fraser River's gravel reach running roughly between the communities of Hope and Abbotsford, represent critical spawning and rearing habitat for threatened White Sturgeon, Pacific Salmon, and dozens of other aquatic species. Due to its extensive biological diversity and ecological value, this region is known as the 'Heart of the Fraser'.
Portable toilets may be on site during busy periods.
Remember to take all your waste back home with you.
