Georgica Pond: Rte 27 Kayak Launch
Wainscott, New York, United States
Located in Wainscott right on Route 27, the highway that takes people to and from the Hamptons, is Georgica Pond’s Kayak Launch. Georgica Pond is a 290-acre coastal lagoon that borders East Hampton and Wainscott. The pond is surrounded by some of the most expensive real estate in the country. A ramp at this road-side location allows easy access for paddle boarders and kayakers to the pond. Local retailers frequently use this location for kayak and board rentals. But, the pond has a history of being extremely polluted by fecal bacteria and toxic algae blooms that could make humans or pets sick. It would be wise to check the New York Department of Environmental Conservation’s Toxic Algae Blooms notification page BEFORE entering or fishing from Georgica Pond.
