This public ocean beach closest to Georgica Pond is a popular spot for surfers, while others come to kayak in Georgica Cove. This beach was closed due to devastating erosion from Hurricane Irene, but will be re-opened as of Friday, June 29, 2012! Like other East Hampton beaches, parking from May 15-September 30 requires one of the coveted village permits, which are free to residents and $300 per car for non-residents. A limited amount are sold and there is no per-day parking. Lifeguards are on duty from 10am-6pm during summer months. Restrooms are available. No alcohol allowed. Between May and September 30, pets and driving on the beach are prohibited between 9am and 6pm. A permit is required for beach driving. This is a Tier III beach.
