Florida Point Beach may also be referred to as Perdido Pass. Locals may use the terms Florida Point, Perdido Pass or Alabama Point interchangeably when discussing where Perdido Pass connects Cotton Bayou, Terry’s Cove, and Bayou Saint John to the Gulf of Mexico. Florida Point is listed on the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail and is part of the Gulf State Park. Bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the south and Perdido Pass to the west, this location offers frequent views of incoming and outgoing charter boats. Boardwalks passing through the dune line provide beach access along the Gulf of Mexico. The walk may be considered lengthy by some, and heavy items may not want to be included for the excursion. Parking is free. Onsite amenities include boardwalks, covered picnic areas, restrooms, and outdoor showers. Those looking for surfing or “the jetties” may want to explore the western side of Perdido Pass.
