Esk River at Eskdale Park
Eskdale, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
The Esk River flows from Mount Taraponui in the Maungaharuru Range before emptying into Hawkes Bay. Eskdale Park is known for having good swimming holes. Many native species of fish including long and short fin eel, common smelt, inanga, koura, hoaro, banded kokopu, torrent fish, pataki (black founder), giant bully, common bully, redfin bully and trout can be found here. The area is also well known for award-winning wines and red wine and chardonnay grapes are grown along the Esk River Valley.
