Moonlight State Beach has volleyball courts, separate surf and swim spots, and plenty of parking. Cottonwood Creek returns to the surface on this beach, after being shunted underground and used as a storm drain. During the rainy season, plan to stay 100 yards away from the creek mouth to avoid contaminated runoff.
