Ella Lake Beach
Capreol, Ontario, Canada
This enclosed, freshwater lake is a sandy, unsupervised, swimming hole boasting over 300 feet of shoreline on Ella Lake. For those who enjoy camping, Ella Lake Campground is a fully serviced campground with no indoor washroom or laundry facilities. Between 1872-1914, Capreol was assigned to be Timber Berth 57. This lake received its name from the Bell Brothers - one of the companies that had cutting rights to the timber in this area. When the brothers arrived at the lake in the fall it was surrounded by yellow birch and one of the brothers said “This is a beautiful ‘yella’ lake," thus the name Ella Lake was created.
