Dockweiler State Beach at Imperial Hwy

Dockweiler State Beach features a three mile long shoreline with a picnic area and concession stand. The wide beach is beneath the takeoff path from Los Angeles International Airport. Hang gliding at Dockweiler State Beach has a long history dating back to the 1960's. It is a training facility that also provides excellent dune soaring for the more advanced pilot. It was the first hang gliding park established in conjunction with a city government. Dockweiler is of the few beaches in Los Angeles County where bonfires are permitted, it is popular for barbecues and picnics. This beach is easy to get to and all-day parking is available for a small fee. Lifeguards are on duty during daylight hours.
