Dead Horse
Salem, Massachusetts, United States

This is a larger public sandy beach facing the Beverly harbor, located at the Salem Willows. It can be accessed by the public year-round. Popular activities include kayaking, and sunbathing. The beach gets rocky in the water so swimmers should wear water shoes and there are no lifeguards on duty. The beach is named Dead Horse because in the 1850's it was the location where local residents would bury their deceased horses. There are bathrooms available at Salem Willows park but none on the beach. Free parking is available directly across from the beach.
