This sampling site is located just upstream of Cucumber Falls.
Cucumber Falls is a popular waterfall located just outside the town of Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. Visitors can enjoy the view of the falls with minimal hiking, though many choose to hike to the base of the 30 foot bridal veil waterfall. Fishing is popular at the confluence with the Youghiogheny, about 300 yards downstream from the falls. Our monitoring location is in the pool below the falls.
Note this is not a designated swimming area, though the pool at the base of the falls is popular among visitors. Swim at your own risk.
NEVER attempt to jump into the pool at the base of the falls, it is very shallow.
