Carbon Beach
Malibu, California, United States
Aka “Billionaires Beach”, is one of the widest and nicest of the eastern Malibu beaches. Carbon Beach extends from Malibu Pier to Carbon Canyon Road, about a mile and a half. There are over 70 private residences lining the beach shoulder to shoulder, including the homes of many major movie stars. There is even a rock called “Deal Makers Rock” where studio heads meet every morning to walk and make their deals. Carbon Beach is a crescent shaped beach tapering to shallow lots at each end, the best lots with the most sand are near the center of the arch. There are only two public accesses to the sand. The first, located at 22706 PCH, is known as the “Zonker Harris” gate after the Doonsbury character. The second access is at 22132 PCH next to David Geffen’s house. By design, on street parking is extremely limited, another option is to park at the Malibu Pier and walk east at low tide. Activities include swimming, surfing, scuba diving, paddle boarding, and catching some rays. No facilities.
