This ramp is located ocean side, just north of Avon off of NC Highway 12. Within the National Seashore a permit is required for any vehicle access to the beach, including this ramp. Swimming is permitted at all public access points but life guards are only on duty at Coquina, Buxton, and Ocracoke during the summer month.

The area is well known for surfing, boarding, fishing and exploring. Sightings of sharks, dolphins, squid, octopus, crabs, shellfish, jellyfish are extremely common. The ocean and sand is filled with bioluminescent species that make it glow and sparkle at night, just be carful not to step on any sea turtle or bird eggs buried in the sand.
