Big Lagoon State Park consists of 655 upland acres located on the northern shoreline of Big Lagoon. The area separates the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico. Nature study opportunities abound with habitats ranging from saltwater marshes, pine flatwoods, beaches, shallow bays, open woodlands and protected species designations. The park is handicap accessible. Visitors partake in camping, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, canoeing, boating, hiking, crabbing, picnicking and wildlife/bird viewing. The West Beach picnic area is shaded by pines and oaks. The park is open 8 a.m. to sundown, year-round. Admission/use fee schedule applies. Onsite amenities include children’s programs, playground, hiking/nature trails, bath houses, picnic tables, raised grills, baby-changing station, boat ramp, bus parking, vending machines, covered pavilions, guided tours, kayak/canoe rentals and 74 sites for tent or RV camping.
